Chloe and Rascal, 2022
Our beloved Rascal has passed away at the healthy old age of 16 years.
Rascal was more than a puppy, he really was a member of Chloe’s family.
When Chloe and I first started seeing each other I remember going to Chloe’s house and meeting him. One of the most gentle and kind pups I’ve ever met.
And chloe loved this dog. He was her dog. But again, he was more than a dog.
Chloe got Rascal when she was 7.
I actually took specific note of several times that Chloe referred to Rascal as a ‘real person’, and for that reason this loss is particularly hard.
When my Grandfather passed away, I’ll never forget the words my uncle Marc said to me after the funeral, “Well, you’re born, you live, you die. And that’s it.”
Life is precious. You truly don’t know the how precious until it’s gone. But when loss hits, it’s an opportunity to live with this gentle reminder.
And so, Chloe and I are dedicating our 2024 in memory of Rascal.
